Liquid Fuel Reactor “Thorium Molten Salt Reactor” Contributes to Nuclear Nonproliferation

In the future, “light water reactors” will be widely used as an energy source in emerging countries, and since “light water reactors” use uranium as fuel, they will produce plutonium. Countries with “light water reactors” have the possibility of extracting plutonium and arming themselves with nuclear weapons. This is nuclear proliferation. On the other hand, the liquid fuel reactor “Thorium Molten Salt Reactor” uses thorium as fuel, so it produces almost no plutonium. Therefore, the “Thorium Molten Salt Reactor” will not lead to nuclear armament. If a country with a new nuclear reactor has a “thorium molten salt reactor” instead of a “light water reactor”, that country will not have plutonium.
